History of the First Presbyterian Church of Gordon
The First Presbyterian Church of Gordon was established on May 9, 1886, with 8 members; adding three new members by the end of May. In May of 1892 it was decided that a new building was needed. This building was 30 x 60 feet and there were less than 60 members when it was first built. As time went on, the church expanded in building size and in members.

In May, 1938, the original church structure was moved back and a new addition measuring 18 x 42 feet was built across the front of the building. An additional 4 x 18 feet was added to the north and west end. Though skilled labor was hired, most of the bulk of the common labor was done by the men of the church. A new modern kitchen was constructed at the east end of the basement (much to the satisfaction of the women of the church) and the rest of the basement was used for social gatherings.

An educational unit was added in May 1956 at the west end of the church which is how the church looks today. Currently the First Presbyterian Church of Gordon is used for many activities throughout the week.
